What Dallas employment diversity looks like

On a scale of 100, Dallas has an employment diversity index of 80, meaning the market is not largely dependent upon a single industry – and makes it one of the most diverse markets in the US.

The only employment segment with a share above the low teens is the broad, “office-using” category of “Business and Professional Services”. We left “energy” out of the chart because it accounts for a mere 0.5% of the Dallas job base (and 1.0% in D/FW combined).

This diversification has made Dallas one of the more stable metro areas in the country, with the employment volatility index being a 93 on an 100 point scale.
