Austin wants developers’ Seaholm Intake proposals — again

It’s back to the starting line for the long-running effort to find a new use for the Seaholm Intake Facility on the shore of Lady Bird Lake downtown.

Austin Parks and Recreation Department said Thursday it is again seeking design proposals from developers interested in turning the Art Deco former industrial building into a public facility. The massive Seaholm Intake, built in the 1950s, once drew water for the city’s hydroelectric power plant but it has sat unused since 1989 when the power plant was taken out of service.
