D-FW home price gains still ahead of U.S. averages

Dallas-Fort Worth home prices are up 8.5 percent in the latest nationwide comparison.

That’s well ahead of the 5.5 percent year-over-year nationwide third quarter home price gain reported Thursday by the National Association of Realtors.

The real estate sales trade association looks at about 170 U.S. markets for its closely-watched quarterly home price report.

Home prices were up in 87 percent of the cities included in the Realtors’ price comparison, which was released at the trade group’s annual conference this week in San Diego.

Luxury condominium units selling fast in the Galleria area

Two luxury condominium towers in the Galleria area have sold nearly half of their units despite being months away from completion.

Pelican Builders Inc. recently announced it has sold more than 40 percent of The Wilshire at River Oaks, a 17-story, 96-unit condo tower at 2049 Westcreek Ln. The Wilshire broke ground Aug. 4. An on-site sales center opened in late April.

Buyers have snapped up half of Legacy West condo project in Plano

Developers who are working on the first high-rise condominium project in Plano say they’ve already presold half of the planned building.

The 24-story Windrose Tower is planned as part of the $2 billion Legacy West project on the Dallas North Tollway at State Highway 121.

The condo tower is just blocks away from where Toyota Motor is building its new North American headquarters.

And it’s next door to the 4,000-employee campus that was just started for Liberty Mutual Insurance.
